“When I grow up, I wanna be like Omar” -Stevie Wonder
Even though Omar Lye-Fook hasn’t blessed the Finnish audience with his live performance more than once twelve years ago at the Flow Festival, he has been internationally recognized as the father and founder of British neo soul all the time since the beginning of 1990’s. Artists, such as Stevie Wonder, D’Angelo, Erykah Badu, Jill Scott, Pharrell Williams and Common, have all praised Omar as one of the biggest artists to inspire them and their music. This should probably already tell you something about him.
Funky Elephant now proudly presents and welcomes this soul legend and his orchestra to Helsinki. And to make it all better, at his freshest after releasing a fantastic new album Love In Beats earlier this year. While the scene has been saturated with too many electronic r&b/soul artists, Omar along with his rich and organic soulful sound is ready to make an impact on us in the autumn night with the same authentic style, which he founded to climb to his undisputed status more than 25 years ago. You can feel there’s magic in the air now. JK
